Wrestling: WWE and TNA

My Thoughts on the current state of Wrestling

Well sadly I have to voice my opinions in the form of this blog as a certain wrestling website out there that I adore didn't believe that my opinions were good enough. Well tough shit because I am still going to voice them even if it isn't on a wrestling site directly. I am only going to have a look at WWE and TNA seeing as they are the two top promotions in the world and the only two I can watch. We all know that wrestling isn't realistic but hey its far more entertaining than most sports. It must be doing something right when "certain contact" sports rip it off...AFL...cough cough cough.

Firstly lets have a look at the shell of its former self WWE. As much as I love WWE, always have, I just cannot help it but think that not only hasn't gotten way worse than many years ago, but Vince himself is the one responsible for running it into the ground. As a life long fan and now an adult I just can't get into this new kid friendly crap we are seeing week after week. The storylines are just week stale and weak as piss and the comedy wouldn't even make a dumb, deaf and blind person laugh as its that unfunny. The storylines lately just have no angst in them, no edge (excuse the pun), they don't even push the boundries anymore. Can't really say the whole Orton against the Hitler's...excuse me McMahons was edgy as its been done thousands of times before, namely with Stone Cold. Everyone knows Vince loves himself more than anything and loves having the strap focused on HHH as he hates everyone else...oh and wonderboy himself Cena. On RAW nothing is new, its all stale. If they were smart they would drop this whole PG13 bullshit, put more time into sets, storylines and matches, then it would be better, would hook more adults back. Christ I remember when my mother would shielf my eyes from it years and years ago when it was violent...oh how those days were great...fucking kids ruin everything.

I don't know why but I hate it how the WWE treats it fans like we have no intelligence and we should believe the crap they put out...namely forgetting Chris Benoit ever existed for a start, not recognising other promotions, and even changing the names of popular superstars from other promotions like we don't know them. I talk about Christian coming back to the WWE and then we are told we haven't seen him in years and now he returns only for the WWECW championship...yeah right like he did. R-Truth as we know was in TNA under Ron "The Truth" Killings and WWE won't even recognise his stint there. Its being treated like that, as a fan, that just infuriates me and many others im sure. WWE needs to pull their head from their arse and realise we all live in the same universe and not just the "WWE Universe".

Which brings me to TNA. We all know TNA isn't as good as what it was but who cares. When compared to WWE right now I personally prefer it for a number of reasons...
  • Its more adult in content
  • The knockouts are far far better in everyway
  • The fans get treated better...from what I have seen
  • They try new things
  • Some of the storylines are better
  • Tag Team wrestling means something
There is certainly more than that but at this time I just don't know what to say. I know TNA is crap right now but there is something about it that attracts me to it over WWE. We all know that Jeff and his team of incompetant writers want a WCW version 2, which hopefully will be steered clear of. One thing I like about TNA is that they acknowledge other promotions, even if it is only a cheap shot or trying to make them selves sound legit but atleast they do. One thing that bugs me and Im sure it does alot of you the fact that yet again Jeff has propelled himself into the title picture, one place where he doesn't belong right now. The title needs to go back into the hands of guys like Samoa Joe, AJ, Christopher Daniels etc. As good as the mafia may be its time to end it as its just gotten old and crusty. Many people have bitched about Team 3D holding the tag titles again...I don't see why. I know they are past their prime by many years but at the moment they have given a much needed prestige and credibility factor to a dimishing tag team rank...no offence to beer money and motor city machine guns who are awesome. I am also liking this new British Invasion faction, I don't know why but something about them seems fresh. A whole british stable is excellent right now and if they do it right can be huge and even give Brutus Magnus a huge push, which we all know Dixie Carter wants for some reason.

For now I will leave it at that but believe me I have plenty more things to blog about. Be nice as its my first wrestling orientated blog and I know its not all that much, nor good, but in time I will find my niche etc so yes.
